Brenda grew up in Warren, left Maine after graduating from the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Special Education and eventually settled in the Washington, D.C. area. There she was employed by Hewlett-Packard and attained a business degree from the University of Maryland.

After relocating back to Maine she received a Master’s Degree in Literacy Education from the University of Southern Maine and was employed by Portland Public Schools as a Literacy Specialist and teacher of English Language Learners. She recently retired after over 25 years in the Portland schools and moved back to the Midcoast area. As a teacher and Literacy Specialist, Brenda often helped students to tell and write the stories of their lives and now finds it rewarding that she is able to help women find a forum to listen to and tell their own stories. According to Brenda, “Stories help us find meaning in our lives, inspire us, engage us, and help us gain insight to others’ lives.”
