My name is Pearl Benjamin. I am 17 years old and a junior at Watershed school in Camden. I write for my local newspaper, raise my very own flock of sheep, and enjoy creative writing and spending time in nature.

   

I believe I am a typical Gen. Z teenager in that I have very strong political beliefs and hope to one day change the world. This is a personality trait I see from a lot of teenagers my age, and it's something that's lead recent political movements throughout our country. I've been a part of many of these movements, and feel strongly about making my world a kinder, safer place full of equality.

   

I am not a typical Gen. Z teenager in that I take on far more responsibility than many kids my age. Because I own, care, and pay for my own small business of livestock, I already understand financial struggle and the "hit or miss" monetary system that small businesses in the U.S. abide by. I spend most of my time caring for my animals and work multiple jobs to be able to feed them, and unfortunately, I don't think this is an experience many teenagers my age will be able to have.
